Hour Of Code
It is Computer Science Education week (Dec. 8 - 14, 2014), so this week some students will be participating in the Hour of Code. The idea is that EVERY student should have the opportunity to learn computer
science. It helps nurture problem-solving skills, logic and creativity.
By starting early, students will have a foundation for success in any
21st-century career path.
There is more information, plus lots of activities on code.org.

Apologies for not posting for ages! We've been back in school for about 3 weeks, and things are starting to settle down a bit.
It was lovely to meet many of you at Open House last Thursday. I hope that I was able to answer your questions about technology in the Lower School. If you have any more questions, please check my LMS page for more info or send me an email.
It's hard to believe September is nearly over! I hope your year is off to a great start!

I'm Back!!!
Hello! I have returned from maternity leave. It's hard to believe Digby is 7 months old already.
Mr. Kasparek has done a fantastic job in the Lower School computer lab, and he will remain there until the end of this school year.
I will be working with teachers and students in their own classrooms, looking for ways to enhance their learning with the use of technology.
I have not updated much on this blog in the way of resources, but I will endeavor to do so and will be continually adding links as I find them.
Lovely to be back!

PreK's Tribute to Mondrian
Dutch painter, Piet Mondrian (1872-1944), was one of the most important artists of the 20th century. His abstract designs have had a huge influence on graphic design, architecture, and interior design. He was best known for his stylized, geometric designs of black and white grids filled with bright, primary colors.
Although Mondrian worked with oil paint on canvas, PK students used the simple applications of line, shape, and color within a Pages document to create their own artwork in the style of Mondrian!
These are the skills they used in the lab this week:
- Inserting shapes and lines
- Modifying size and color of shapes
- Modifying the thickness of lines
- Manipulating and moving shapes and lines within a document
